Ok music people out there. I want to buy a Death Cab for Cutie CD and I'd like recommendations as to which is the best of the catalogue. Any suggestions?

Latest album is pretty good (and i'm a huge fan).

you can't go wrong with any of them.

for lo-fi enjoyment, get "We Have the Facts..."
for slick, hi-fi production, get "The Photo Album"

imo, the songs on "We Have the Facts..." are probably the best.

i'd actually recommend getting their latest (Transatlanticism) AFTER you get one of the above albums.

have fun, you'll love them all.

I'd go Photo Album, then We have the facts and we are voting yes and then Transatlanticism. Afterwards you can experiment with their other releases like you can play these songs with chords.

Transatlanticism is probably the most depressing/introspective album i have heard in a loooong time. Love it.

Right. I have the Postal Service, which is why I'm looking into Death Cab for Cutie. I heard a couple of thier songs maybe two years ago, which I liked, but I never knew which album they were from. Thanks for the recomendations - I'll pick them up after work.

By any chance was the band named for the title of a Bonzo Dog DooDah Band song?

Holy carp! I was at the show. Drove all the way from Buffalo, NY to Cambridge, saw the show and drove straight back. Good times.

If you like Death Cab, you might want to check out Rilo Kiley, Bright Eyes, The Rocking Horse Winner, Denali, and The Faint. Those are my fave indie rock bands.
