Can the popcorn app work without wifi?

More importantly, will I have a problem getting apps if my PC is older, but I have 8.0 Itunes?

Also, what kind of cheapie router should work with the touch?

You should have no problems as long as you're running the latest iTunes and if you get a router you can just download the apps over wifi without the use of your computer which makes things even easier. I've got a cheap nethear router and it works fine.
