Hi,
Very new when it comes to setting up mac servers - or servers in general for that matter...
Trying to set up an old-ish G5 Server with 10.4.11 installed and fully patched up. I've managed to get the server on our windows network and can ping it etc by it's IP address. However, I cannot ping it by it's DNS name. The server isn't acting as DNS itself, instead it is pointing to a windows server on the domain. I can see that the DNS name isn't even being registered on our DNS server.
Things I've done:
Entered hostname in sharing (it ends in .local though if that's important)
Pri and sec DNS servers added in Network by IP address
Server has been added to our AD server and the service is running on the Mac Server (it has been bound)
The Open Directory service is running on the server and is acting as Master (is this causing a conflict with AD?)
Not sure if I need to provide any more information but here are some details from a log file on the server...
