Hi,
Very new when it comes to setting up mac servers - or servers in general for that matter...

Trying to set up an old-ish G5 Server with 10.4.11 installed and fully patched up. I've managed to get the server on our windows network and can ping it etc by it's IP address. However, I cannot ping it by it's DNS name. The server isn't acting as DNS itself, instead it is pointing to a windows server on the domain. I can see that the DNS name isn't even being registered on our DNS server.

Things I've done:

  • Entered hostname in sharing (it ends in .local though if that's important)
  • Pri and sec DNS servers added in Network by IP address
  • Server has been added to our AD server and the service is running on the Mac Server (it has been bound)
  • The Open Directory service is running on the server and is acting as Master (is this causing a conflict with AD?)

Not sure if I need to provide any more information but here are some details from a log file on the server...
