I work for a photo studio and we have a 15 inch iMac. We have a Gigabit network setup for our Mac side of the network and was wondering if there was any way that the iMac could be upgraded to work efficiently with the network at a Gigabit, instead at the 100 mb's per second. Is there a firmware upgrade that can be applied? Or is there no hope for upgrading this machine to be faster on the network. We are transferring gigabytes of files at a time so that faster the better for work flow. Thanks to all who reply.

Definitely not.
If it's convenient, you may want to do the transfers over firewire using IP over firewire.

Unfortunately it isn't convenient. It would be about a 100 ft run from computer to the lab were these files end up. I mean I guess it could be done. But not sure if it would be worth it. Hum ok. I didn't know if the NIC was hackable like the iBook and iMac displays to alow video mirroring as well as the expandable desktop.
