I was thinking about upgrading my macbook's internal space, and found these two options 500GB for 120 or less. Are they both pretty much the same thing? One is seagate the other is western digital

The big difference between a seagate he and a western digital he is the name on the outside of the box. I didn't review your links, but the only thing that you need to look at would be the write cathe. Most of the time it is only 8mb of cache, by if you can find 16 that would be a little bit better. Cheers!

Both are good brands and the specs on each are very close. I recently ordered the WD but the Seagate would also work very well.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5H11 Safari/525.20)

I just wanted to chime in and say that I have the WD that you are asking about and have had good luck with it. I use it to store movies that I rip from DVDs or purchase from iTunes and it has served me well.
