This is a Belkin iPod charger that also has an AUX out on it.

Does anyone know of a charger like this, but for the iPhone 3G? And one that won't be damaging to it either... I've heard stories that some 3rd party chargers are bad.

This is exactly what you are looking for. I use it all the time while driving.

Griffin AutoPilot Kit - 9559-AUTOPLTB
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=206772648

note: I get the msg, this accessory is not made for 3g, but it works perfectly. Radio while driving and when a call comes in, the ring comes through the speakers. (not the call conv though)

hope this helps.

does the AutoPilot allow you to scroll through artists and albums? does it pause the ipod when you turn the car off, assuming your cigarette lighter looses power as well? it looks really nice. i just want those two things!

good thread here!

It charges and everything? You're sure this won't be damaging for the iPhone?... I had a lady come into the Apple store and we found out that somewhere along the line she plugged her phone into an accessory that wasn't made for the iPhone 3G and damaged the bottom port... Now her phone keeps replaying the message "This Accessory Will Not Work With This iPhone" o_O.
