Me too. To make it even worse, my friend wouldn't scroll up when I asked him too, which got my hopes up even more. How rude!

As someone above pointed out, it's a little odd when Apple puts a promo for somethign OLD up there. Is it an attempt to clear out old units prior to the, theoretical and rumored new G5 release, or a sign of something to come... or both?

My homepage is set to the Apple site, but the Canadian one. I'm not sure why that makes sense because it is there so I can see if something new is out, and usually the newer products are only on the main page and eventually make their way to the (CDN) page.

Off topic:
Oh, the iPod commercial is on... don't you just love when you see an Apple commercial? lol

They [Apple] also should lower the prices to get more people to buy more G5's.

The powermac is a professional machine... as such, it is similarly priced to Pro PC workstations... Sure its a lot of money.. but that's when you compare it to a HP or Dell... which is a laughable comparison.

I also noticed they updated the iPod page has a new person, and the iPod firmware has been moved up.

Never. But I have seen promos on the website the night before updates like this - like teasers without really saying much.

First, the G5 is just too big. It looks great, but it's just so huge. I'd like a smaller one, smaller than the G4 case.

2nd, the keyboard, monitor and mouse don't match the G5 case like the G4s did. Hey I'm shallow - so sue me. It's Apple and I expect it to look good.

3rd, it's the first generation. Never buy the 1st model of a new processor chip, because I'll whack you with a wire hanger if you do.

Last, the dual processors must all be greater than 2 Ghz. I won't buy anything less.

The good news is that I'm confident that Apple will fix all these things this year. When that happens you'll see my G4 on eBay!

Do you have an application in mind for which dual 2GHz G5 processors aren't fast enough?

Or are you just drawing a comparison to Intel/AMD chips that have higher clock speeds? Surely you are aware that clock speed by itself is a poor predictor of overall system performance. Especially when you're talking about different processor and motherboard architectures.

I was kinda peeved when I saw it was just quotes about how great the G5 is. We already know that, Apple :D !

Nah, Apple.com is my home page. See it every time I open Safari.

I'll admit that the 2Ghz mark on G5's is mostly a psychological threshold, but it is an important one. I want to see Apple gain market share and that ain't happening when PC processors are at twice the Macs clock frequency. Sure, I know that in most respects a G5 is faster, but I still want a 2 Ghz chip. Thank the gods of marketing for that bit of irrationality.
