I'm going to break my "I'm not gonna meet weirdos from the internetz unless " rule and meet weird internetz people.

Is this place really far away from Yonge Street? I don't seem to know where things are anymore. I get a feeling it's near the big Mountain Equipment Co-op that used to be in the area, but a bit north of that. If that's the case, it's not such a bad walk. Only 15 minutes from Yonge. I'll have to make it down there though...

Hey man- we're not that weird. Although Iscariot- I think I may have to insist that we wear our Batman and Captain America T's that night. At least people would be able to find us easily. ;) Or we could save those for another night.

Well roti kind of implies that you're not going to get items like butter chicken, other more ... cookie cutter?... fare. I was told that good roti places often serve up more of the traditional dishes.

Oh and if I did show up and watch you from across the room I'd be the wierdo from the internet... which also violates my 'you can't be the weirdest one in the room' rule. ... 2nd weirdest is ok though ;)

Get your butt out and meet us! I've met a lot of the folks on this site, man. We've got some seriously cool people here- a few who visited from across the pond too. Break your rule and be there. It's not like we're asking you to meet us in a dark hotel room or something.

And we do so love to be watched. :)

EDIT- I just looked up the roti photos. We have that here too. I just never knew what it was called. I always go to Indian buffets here, so I never knew what any of it was called. They don't tend to put labels on the food at the buffets. You learn something new every day. ;)

The roti at Gandhi's are these giant burrito-like wraps, filled with curry chicken, lamb, butter chicken, or various other Indian dishes, including veggie dishes. They make it as spicy as you want. I miss that place. Best in the city. It's a little hole in the wall, so you know it's good.

Hit up The Salad King for the best green curry chicken in the city (and so far, better than anything I've found in LA). It's right near the Eaton Centre.

Thanks for the tips! Iscariot and I have already made quite a few plans, but anything you guys add will only help. I've been trying to look up outdoor stuff too, like tobogganing, sledding and such. I was hoping there might be someplace that gives bobsledding lessons. Not having a lot of luck. Please- NO SKIING. I might look like a big, strong bruiser, but I've got arthritis in both knees- so skiing is out.

p.s. Baring any disaster (or some forgotten event that the wife hasn't mentioned) I'll be there.

Of note I might be fashionably late (8:30ish) as I'd be coming from a family dinner ... something about my father-in-law teasing my nieces and nephew with some story that it's his birthday on the 22nd of every month. To tease him back the kids suggested having a birthday party for his 847th month!

Drive safe.

You guys better be going for some of this today or during the week (they're closed on Sundays) or else it's a waste of a trip to Toronto IMO!:

It's snowing now. Iscariot and I went to a great place with climbing walls (as in indoor rock climbing). I had never climbed before, and I must say it was damn fun. I'm a little banged up, but I'm always running into things, so that was fine. :)

OK! The meet up was fun! It ended up being me, Iscariot, Abstract and Raid. It was a helluva a good time if I do say so myself, and abstract gave me a very nice gift- some maple creme cookies! I'm excited to try this lovely-looking Canadian treat. :)

We shall be posting pics later. ;)

Glad to have met you all. I didn't know what to expect meeting people I know only on the internet, but everyone was very pleasant. :) We talked, and watched an awesome band play. I don't know the band's name, but they were very very good.

Sorry I had to rush off like that. I thought the last train was at like 1:15 AM at Queen St. Station, and I had to make sure to get on it. That, and I hadn't eaten dinner yet (:o)), so I was pretty desperate to get a sausage or McDonalds before I got onto the train. Goodness I was hungry and tired. The worst parts of the conversation were anything involving food. :p

Anyway, later I'll post some photos that I think are OK to be posted.

I had fun guys, thanks for the opportunity to put a few faces with the names! I was quite impressed with the band (Kevin Quain and the Mad Men <-for Abstract ;) , and Iscariot should now have the violinists name etched in his memory :) )

Too bad work made it an even earlier night for me... I would have loved to stick around for "Act 2" of the band, next time I'll know to take the next day off!

Have fun with the rest of your trip Lee!

Thanks! I will! I'm glad you could make it out. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get back. But hey- I've got two more days. I think we're going to do the tourist stuff today. Oh- and Iscariot, I think more vegan food is in order. The first place was so good!

Well we really could make Surely really jealous and get together for lunch at Salad King tomorrow. I'm sure he'd appreciate photos! ;)

Not a bad idea! I know we're going to the gym in the morning, but let's try to set that up!

Cool, my lunch "hour" is pretty flexible so I can meet you guys there anywhere from 11:45am to 1pm. It's also about 10 minutes from work for me so I can be there pretty quickly. Usually it's pretty busy for the lunch hour, but lets plan it around your day instead of the crowd. Worse comes to worse we can wait a few minutes for table space.

Grrrrrrrrr..... order the Green Curry Chicken, add eggplant, 3 chili, and a Jumex Mango for me. :D

Well, I guess the trade-off for me is that it's sunny and 70°F here today.....

Sounds like you guys had/are having a great time. Awesome.

Okay cool, it's a 15 minute walk from my place, so we should have no trouble getting there at a good time.

^^^^ Hmmm sweet tasty satisfaction.

Sorry it took so long to post this, it's been a hell of a week.

Though the Mango juice was for Iscariot ... :o

Niiiiiice! I'm glad you enjoyed. I miss that place.

We went for Thai food this weekend in West Hollywood and it was good, but it just wasn't Salad King good. It was like a 7.5/10 where Salad King is 10/10.

You guys have succeeded in making me jealous. However, I did get to experience this (see below) all weekend, where you guys enjoyed some -23°C fun.

So..... even??? :D

I hate warm weather, so no- not jealous. :) I love fall and winter.
