iPod touch Can not detect usb device

hi.
when i put my ipod touch to my laptop it says cannot detect usb device. does someone know how to fix that. my portable hard drive works and that is usb but not my ipod touch...

umm...yea... you cant make it work wen you just bought it if you dont got itunes... it has worked perfectly fine but the last three weeks its says Can not detect usb device...
