Apple Tells Dual-Link DVI Adapter Customers That Their Monitors Are Incompatible

I was planning on buying an aluminum MacBook to use with a 30" Samsung display (2560 x 1600), but Apple says it's not possible! In fact, Apple says it's not possible with any display, unless it is an Apple Cinema Display! 😡

I'm not going to buy this laptop until this issue is fixed.

mmm i had a similar problem... my monitor had issues working with my aluminum macbook, but it worwked with a powerbook and an older macbook pro just fine. Went to the apple store, i told them so. They asked me to try in their apple cinema displays, i did and it worked good. So the apple "genius" concluded that my display was incompatible.... it made me go nuts....
 
So, as of right now, it's impossible to use a MacBook with virtually all 30" displays, including Apple's 30" Cinema Display.

Apple is acting pathetic... This is a serious issue. Many people rely on 30" monitors for their work, for three reasons: 2560 x 1600 resolution (the highest possible), the predominantly color-accurate LCD panel (as opposed to the crappy TN LCD panels found in the MacBook displays), and the matte screens.

Anyone know or have a guess why Apple may fix this?

You think that's bad? Apple's adapter isn't even working properly with their own Apple Cinema Display. I'm still waiting for them to fix the external display problems but I'm not getting my hopes up that it'll happen anytime soon.

Incompatible? Bull****.

I had an MBP that drove my HP 30" display without a single problem.

New MB, this adaptor, and it flickers. The fault is with the laptop and the adaptor - and Apple need to fix it. Now.
