No 3G all of a sudden

hey
just got iphone on wednesday.
Its EPIC lol.
Anyways, yesterday, sat at my desk i had perfect 3G signal.
Now, sat at my desk, i have no 3G signal.
When i turn wifi off, i have no 3G signal. I went into settings and checked that 3G was enabled, it is. And still no 3G signal.
I will have to check if it works elsewhere.

Any ideas? Im on UK O2 network btw (paygo)

Sometimes 3G networks are "full" and you cannot get a slot on them.
it may be there are lots of people around you who are using the connection?

Nobody around me with iPhone or a 3G device.
I think it may be fixed though.
When i touch the home button, after the phone has gone to sleep, the lock screen shows 3G, however when i unlock it, it shows wifi rather than 3G.
Is this normal?

It doesn't sound very normal to me. You should call your doctor! :-P

Try a restore. It may help. As an earlier poster mentioned, 3G networks can get "full" and you are put off to a 2G network. There are more phones with 3G than just the iPhone 3G, so if it looks like no one around you has an iPhone they may have a different phone on 3G. Also, you can't see everywhere and everyone in the network area that you are in. Most network areas (covered by one tower) are huge.

Try turning wi-fi, off then switch airplane mode off then on, while keeping wi-fi off.
