View Full Version : Fast internet connection, SLOW page load

Any idea of how to fix? DNS server? Network set up? trojan, I have spent hours on this and no solution.
I ran DNSchanger, configured my DNS servers to match the ip address 10.0.1.5 and Router 10.0.1.1

Running MacScan now, had 35 tracking cookies ( have no clue what those are), 0 Spyware Processes identified and no Spyware Files Detected (thank god for osx)

I have this problem at my dad's house in Spain, he has a 5000kbps (5meg) connection and when I'm downloading files it's super fast but loading a page takes forever! I tried OpenDNS but no luck.

I have to reload pages constantly to get them to open...:mad: web surfing on this computer is slower than my iphone on edge

Same here, why don't you try OpenDNS?

Have you tried

Flush DNS cache (note 10.4 has a different command)

How do you know the connection is fast? Advertised, file download? Are you running wireless?

I have a 10 Mb/s connection at home, and depending on the wireless channel it can be really slow at times.

If you're getting fast file downloads I'd look at the DNS fixes suggested.

I check http://www.speedtest.net/ and get 5k download speeds. I will look at the DNS fixes

Type the following command in the Terminal:
lookupd -flushcache.

So I open terminal, then select new command enter ( lookupd -flushcache )?

Yes that's what I have my MBP with 10.4. Work DNS server is a bit messed up.

After you run it, in the future, if you need to run it again, just open terminal, and press the up arrow until you get to the same command you used.

Still no change. I had a negative full MacScan test, reset DNS, get over 5k Download speeds, but have to refresh pages to get them to load.

Uninstall MacScan. There are no viruses on OSX.

Have you tried it in new user account?

Same thing on different user account, I spent 30 minutes on this page waiting for it to load before I finally refreshed it, to get it it load properly
