How can I make a 2nd virtual disc for Parallels?

I have been searching but found a lot of stuff and I got confused. I have an HP windows xp disc that came with the laptop. It's not letting me install it on Parallels. I am thinking because it needs to hard drives for it? One for windows xp and the other one for recovery. The laptop has drive C and D. How can I make it work on Parallels? Sorry if I sound confusing.

Most PC recovery disks won't work on anything other than the PC they came with.

If you want to install Windows, you'll need to buy a copy.

Ohh ok. Thank you! I thought this version would work because it's just windows. It's not like the other ones that come with the drivers for that computer. This one only has windows and the other disc has just the drivers for the specific laptop.

Well, you can try, but generally recovery disks won't work.

When you start the install, do the manual setup not the auto setup, and you can create your virtual machine with two hard drives.

If you do get it installed, you still won't be able to use it for long (you get 30 days with XP) and will need to buy a license eventually.
