Hi, I restored my iPhone today, and before doing so backed up in "Aptbackup", then backed up, restored from backup, jailbroke, downloaded aptbackup, and am currently restoring from aptbackup

its been restoring for around 50 minutes now. is this normal? Should I just download all the apps individually? (would really dread it)

That's actually what aptbackup does. Make sure your phone is charging (otherwise it will disconnect from any WiFi networks when it powers down), and have patience. If you've got a slow connection (or if you're pulling packages from slow repos) it can take a while.
