On my PC i would have to defrag the hard-disk and scan disk from time to time to fix problems.... do I need to-do anything like that on my macbook?

what maintenance (if any) needs to be done on the mac?

You don't really need to do that with a mac. You can run disk utility though and repair disc permissions every once in a while. It's under Utilities in your applications folder. Called Disk Utility.

Select the first aid tab, select the drive you want to repair, and hit repair disk permissions.

That's really about it. Even that you don't HAVE to do.

Thats why apple uses HFS+ instead of NTFS/Fat32.. it "defrags" itself, or better it doesent arrange the bits in a weird order like NTFS does... so no need to do this on a mac.. :apple:
