Do you think I should get Apple Care for my Octo Mac Pro?
It seems pretty solid, not really seeing problems coming on.
I had Apple care on my old 2.7 Dual G5 and I used it many times due to the liquid cooling system killing chips and Jet sounding fans.
I may just sell my Mac Pro when the Nehalem come out though.
Will Apple Care increase my resale value?
Wheres the cheapest place to buy it? (from a known dealer not a ripp off).

definitely get it from ebay if you do get it.
i'm not convinced it's worth it for a desktop, definitely is for a laptop

I don't know, paying $300 to save a machine costing an average of $3-4,000 from disaster (should it strike) seems pretty worth it.

any kind of protection helps out when trying to sell something.
when buying a used car, its nice if they are still under warranty...correct?
even if it wont INCREASE the value of the sale later on...
it will make it much EASIER to sell.

My Airport Extreme went into flashing amber mode yesterday. I didn't have any manual or diagnostics for it. Because I needed the Internet to get to Apple's web site for tech support, that was not an option. I wasn't going to start hard wiring my Mac Pro across the house to get on line. So I phoned Apple tech support. The Airport was outside of the 3 month free support window, but not over a year old yet. Then I told the rep that I had Applecare on my MP. He said great, then I can help you for free. After verifying that the serial # on the MP matched the Applecare, he proceeded to walk me through reconfiguring both the Airport Extreme and my Airport Express. It took about 15 minutes. Was my Applecare (purchased at half retail on eBay) worth it? You bet!

I bought it and technically I am using it right now. There is either a GPU or MLB problem on my Early 2008 MacPro. I purchased it end of April and while I'm still within my 1 year warranty, now that I've had work done I presume the extra 2 years will be worth my money. For a fraction of the cost of the machine I have piece of mind. Unlike some, I don't have cash to throw around on a whim.

Just did a search on ebay found this AppleCare (http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-Mac-Pro-AppleCare-Protection-Plan-2yr-Warranty_W0QQitemZ130286392532QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item130286392532&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50)
$79 bucks? Is that right? Sounds to good to be true, do think I should buy it?
Or is it a scam?

Nope. Good to go.
I bought AppleCare from him. They email you the code and youre set.
I got it for a MacPro (same price), Display, and an iPod all under 160$ for 3 items.
not a bad deal IMHO.

I don't understand. How can third parties be selling valid AppleCare for less than Apple sells it for?
