OK, not too long back, I wrote a blog post on MobileMe Alternatives. Since people have been asking about this, I thought I'd post a link (no alternative hosting solutions are listed, though, and it's slightly PC-centric):

Note, however, that while the items listed might be lower-cost, they also tend to come with reduced functionality or more work (i.e., not for computer novices).
Also, note that, at $99/year, MobileMe works out to $8.25/month. Considering what you get, it's not a bad price, although you could argue that it's not good, either.
