Looks like a 24... as that is how it looks like when you put my Wifes MBP next to here iMac... but it could also be a 26... unlikely though... ;)

Here's my current setup

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3622/3518687911_f756d87f78.jpg

MacBook Pro 2.4GHz
iPod Touch
Livescribe Pulse
20" Samsung display
3Dconnexion 3d mouse
B&O form 2 headphones
apple mouse and keyboard

Awesome poster! Gotta love WWII propaganda: "Keep calm and carry on." :D

Judging by the 15 inch MacBook Pro screen I would say "high 20's or 30 inch display."

Meh, it's my "in-between" setup :p

Just moved out of my dorm, and I'm getting stuff ready to move into an apartment in a couple months; but for right now, I've got to have a half-done setup while staying home with mom

Don't have room for my 24" Dell, nor for Macbook's Elevator. I'm hoping to build a nice desk here pretty soon, and purchase a Mac Pro to replace the iMac. So, *hopefully* this will see a lot of change in the next couple months.

Does anyone have any idea where to get a desk pad like that?

Looks like leather (pleather is close enough). I like the curved inside edge and the fold at the edge of the desk.

Anyone??

Just out of interest, how come you don't use the Apple keyboard? I can understand the MM, but I've gotten so used to typing on the slim keyboards that PC ones feel too clumsy

I've seen other people use non apple keyboards in this thread as well

Come on, do a little detective work. That photo clearly shows a gamer's room!

Gaming keyboards need some character... helps you find familiar keys better. Apple's kb is a bit sterile for that sort of thing.

This is actually a temporary setup. I just put it on the desk for giggles and majority of the weight the desk is actually on that side. It's sturdy enough. I'm actually getting a samsung 26" T260HD for that spot. I just had a 37" laying around that wasnt being used ATM. It is too big to use on a daily use. LOL. So, this isn't a real setup yet, but this is what it will look like hopefully within the next couple of months.

The first picture is a general layout of how it will look. On the left and top of the picture are walls with a big double window on the left side. The Brother MFC-7840W and Dell 2408wfp still need purchasing, along with the entire desk system, which will be the first purchase. The layout it to scale (roughly 1in=1ft).

The second picture is the desk system that we'll be getting. It comes from a user here on MR, srl7741. The pieces to be used will be as follows, from top-right, going counter-clockwise:

48" Desk (http://www.bushofficefurnituredirect.com/Bush-WCXXX48-BU1256.html)
48" Corner Desk (http://www.bushofficefurnituredirect.com/Bush-Furniture-WCXXX66-A-BU1258.html)
36" Desk (http://www.bushofficefurnituredirect.com/Bush-Furniture-WCXXX36-A-BU1255.html)
Corner Connector (http://www.bushofficefurnituredirect.com/Bush-WC90429-A-BU2399.html)
Peninsula Desk (http://www.bushofficefurnituredirect.com/Bush-WC90471-A-BU2415.html)

So, let's hope this comes out well in the end! The wife and I are moving on the 25th to the new apartment (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=7573252&postcount=272), and this will look much better than our current crap-shoot!

It's just a JONAS desk from IKEA. Although my friends and I sort of royally screwed up the pull-out drawer so instead of installing it we just put it on the side as a sort of extension table. Actually ends up working better for me. I also attached a foldable headphone hook to the desk. It's quite nice! Of course, IKEA quality is far from "great." Be careful with the surface. Particleboard (ugh) isn't exactly the hardest surface around.

Ummm many people use an external monitor with their notebooks while in the office or at home. Frankly, my powerbook was a desktop replacement for 4 years that I carried with me in college. At home it was the octopus of notebooks with speakers, usb/fw hubs, display, etc. So yeah ... he bought an external screen ... that is not uncommon by any stretch of the imagination.

Thanks! I presume the Wifi works out of the box? :) Is it especially for the HP Compaq Mini 700? Because here in Sweden I can only buy a HP Compaq Mini 730eo or 735eo, not the HP Compaq Mini 700..

Mine works no problem installing the Kext files included in that guide. At the moment 10.5.7 is a little more of a challenge, but 10.5.5 works perfectly. As far as I can see all the Mini 700s are pretty much the same, but have a read through myhpmini.com forums for a bit more info.

Woa, this extremely glossy screen of the new Apple Notebooks would make me go crazy everytime I used it. Apple has to offer the matte screen for all models in my opinion.

Please don't start that up again. It's not as bad as photos make it out to be, however yes, Apple should release matte to cater for the group who want it. Ok, back to the setups.

Tiz a beast. :D Setup works really well for me, might add a second 2209WA but I'm not sure it'll fit on the desk.

What all do you use the mini for? How's it working out?

I'm really wanting to build an i7 rig and replace my MBP with something smaller. I have a Dell Ultrasharp that's barely been used since I got it at the first of the year because it's just too much of a hassle to use with a laptop. I don't really like doing intensive work on it either since it gets so hot.

A netbook would actually be better for class, but I'm afraid there will be times when I will still need more power in a mobile machine like when I go home. I'd like to replace it with a Unibody Macbook, but I'd probably be lucky to break even with the switch. Having all three would be nice, but I'm not sure where this money's growing.

How are you liking the A2's? Plenty of power for 256kbits? I have heard they were amazing for their size. Especially for compressed music.

Wouldn't mind a little brighter snapshot of your setup.:D

The desk is just one I picked up at Officeworks (I live in Aus), at the time all the IKEA desks I looked at were too big for the space I had.

The A2's are absolutely amazing, really great sound quality for their size. I'd recommend them to anyone that can afford them.

It's pretty bad weather here today so can't really get a bright pic, but here's one in daytime at least.

Mainly used for Safari and Adium when I'm in bed. Runs ARD perfectly well though, for controlling the Mac Pro. That and OpenTTD of course, the greatest game eva!

Runs all that perfectly well, the only noticeable 'slowness' is the boot time, takes about a 1:30 to fully boot, but hey, thats not all that bad.

I came so close to getting the same set up, was going to hook up dual 24" ACD's to a MacPro ... but ... as it turns out my 15" MacBook Pro is my all out favorite .... because I can work away from my desk and have ample power and decent screen size anywhere ...

Surprised me, wouldn't of found out unless I tried it ... my original set up was '09 iMac and revB MBA as a netbook all that ended when I picked up a 15" MBP to try, I almost ordered the MP instead of the MBP ...

Your two display's look excellent !!

I loved these... the white just looked so nice... but they were tiny... and I really needed some larger displays.. So hence when the Cinema Displays come out I bought 2*30" Babies!!!

Ok guys... don't laugh at me.

I won't laugh for two reasons:
a) It's a very nice set up
b) I have some Blythes.

My uncle passed down his 400-lb 18-year-old executive desk to me, and I love it. I was looking for something sturdy until I settle into a permanent office and get new furniture, and this does the trick. It's so freaking heavy!

Don't you just love heavy desks... mine weighs about 600-lbs!! They had to split it up into 16 parts to carry it up to my office!!

Yeah absolutely. Cross bracing and such is no substitute for solid, dense real wood.

Also, I meant to add...look ma, no drooping cables! Picked up this cable tunnel for $10 at Fry's.

My desk... it can tilt backwards and forwards... so it has to have all of the wires and monitors and things built into it.... It's great... and so all I have to have on the floor... is a power outlet and an ethernet socket... and all of the other plugs are in the desk!! And so the wires are pretty well hidden!! If you are a doctor and want to check out the desk... then it's here (http://www.anthro.com/cpage.aspx?pid=375)...

I've been interested in this as well since he posted this:

I have 3 Powerbooks... 4 MacBook Pro's... 2 MacBook Air's and a Black MacBook... I also have 2 30" Cinema Displays and 2 24" Cinema Displays (On Order) I have my 2 Mac Pro's and 3 Mac Mini's as Media Centres LOL.. oh.. also N*iPods and iPhones...

I initially thought it was a joke, but the more this person posts here, the more I think he's trying to insinuate that he does actually own this stuff. If it's true, I'd love to see some pics, but as it stands, the internet has made me extremely cynical about stuff like this. :o

WTF are you talking about? Are you saying that just because he happens to only have iTunes up when he took the picture?

Since he was cleaning his desk, I'm guessing he was listening to music at the same time? And then took a picture as soon as he finished?

Anyway, a Mac Pro is not portable :p
