carrier update. Safe to install?

Hello,

I am running a JB iPhone 3G and I know that I shouldn't install the update Apple pushed out last week. However, this afternoon when I plugged in to iTunes i got notice of a "carrier settings" update. Is this safe to install on a JB'ing phone?
