View Full Version : my crappy weekend

Well Florida was quite beautiful...blue water...nice breeze...beautiful women all over...but damn the weekend could have been much better.
I did not get many photos taken...got a few in Friday afternoon at the beach...nothing special that u guys would be interested in seeing. What sucked was the fact that I went to a party with my friend last night and got the total brush off because she was drinking too much (she honestly has an alcohol problem) and more interested in the guy she wanted to hook up with than to hang out with her friend who drove 250 miles to see her. Before duke suggests it, no I wasn't jealous...but there's only so much one can do solo at a party where out of the 200+ people there, the few he can talk with end up leaving early.
Anyway, aside from that, I was riding with her, so instead of having to wait around for her to get too drunk to be out anymore, I took her keys and drove myself back to where my car was...got my stuff...and headed back to New Orleans at midnight.
It's quite amazing the second wind one can achieve off a Mountain Dew Amp, a PowerBar, pretzels, gum, music, and cranked AC in a car for a 4 hour drive...
I got home at 4 am...and she's been calling me all day, but I'm not really prepared to confront her on the whole ordeal...
and also, since u all were so interested...and at the discretion of some words duke gave me...the pizza hottie has a boyfriend...end of story ;)

I was contacted by a new art gallery here in New Orleans who is looking to put together a poetry reading group once a week. For all of u who I'm sure do not know, I write from time to time. After several correspondences, I've managed to become one of the "officers" who will put things together and be heavily involved with the events. This is very good for me, because now I have my foot in the door of an art gallery, thus bettering my chances of eventually having my own showing of photography possibly later on.
This I am very excited about and very optimistic for! :D

damn, that sucks, but you know **** happens. You should probably just talk to your friend and tell her what happened, don't make it worse by totally blowing her off, even if you don't ever plan on seeing her again. So she messed up, how long have you known her? How old is she? What about the other woman who was there? There were 2, right?
As for pizza girl, hell, convince her your a better man than her current boyfriend - she doesn't have a ring, right? Don't let it get you down and just be your normal happy self.

Well the thing with her...it's a known fact that she should never drink because she always overdoes it. I just didn't think she'd get to that point while I was in town for 2 days. Quite honestly, I've talked to her before about this whole thing. She even decided not to drink anymore once she recognized she had a problem. Unfortunately, it takes much more than just saying something.
As for her friends, they both had boyfriends. One is kind of a b*tch, but the other is so damned cool it's scary. No dice on either case, just not a good idea to get mixed up in a triangle like that. The one cool friend paid more attention to the fact that I was in town than my friend did, but what can u do?
I'm not too worried about the pizza hottie. She is so cute though...;) No ring, as I got into the habit of checking for that before anything else when I used to sell shoes years ago, but I also don't know many details about her boyfriend. All I figure I can do is just do my normal thing, if it's meant to happen it will...
I will always seek out the silver lining in every situation. It's the only way to get by in this world. I did feel much better about this weekend today when I took my car to the pressure wash station to rid it of bugs from driving at night. This old lady's car broke down and she had no phone and didn't know what to do, so I let her use my PCS and spent about 45 mins with her to make sure a tow truck got her safely. She was a nice woman...so that was my good deed for the day ;)

yeah...I just need to figure out what I'll say...or maybe I'll just shoot from the hip?! I don't want to cut her off totally, but I'm honestly starting to get to the point where I don't want to give people second or third chances...I guess I do have some bitterness within me... ;)
As for waiting it out with the pizza girlie...I have a fear of becoming the rebound...I'm just going to continue to flirt with her whenever she waits on me and maybe be suggestive while joking at the same time...if u know what I mean. There are many beautiful women in this city, I'll eventually catch one...he he he :D

not to say one way or another about whether the pizza girl is worth you "waiting" for her... but basically, it's still worth it to try to be friends. my current girlfriend (over 2 years) had a boyfriend when i met her. they were on rocky ground, and within 2 months she had dumped him. within another month we were going out.... we just really really clicked.
and you won't know if you could until you give it a shot. that said, she still might not be right for you. but hey, one can always use more friends i think.

we should really start an "Office Space & how our lives mirror it" thread...he he he ;)
as for your comments on waiting around & friends...
I can totally foresee making friends with anyone at this point. If anything at all, it would make things much less complicated in the long run if it doesn't work out in the other direction. Who knows what the future holds for me?! U are right, how u never really know till u give it a shot...but then again, I did go far enough to inquire about her dating life...

sorry to hear about that....i do think you did the right thing by cruising. you can tell her why when you feel like it. frankly, she probably won't get it if she pulled this crap in the first place. it sounds like she has more than just an alcohol problem-how about having the courtesy to be a decent host to an out-of-town guest?
cool about the poetry stuff. the post relationship period is always good for releasing some creative energy-i guess thats a positive spin on what can be a pretty gloomy time.
stay positive. i've always found it ironic that i would finally meet nice date-able women( including my wife) after i threw my hands up and said "screw it".

ha yes. office space rules....
as for the girl, it's a good start that you talked to her about her dating life.... how did that come up? and how did it end? if it was just like "do you have a boyfriend?" "yes" and end... then that could be bad. give her the impression that's all you want.
but if not, then cool. and keep on it. see if she wants to hang out sometime.... and try to be clear (somehow) that it's not a dating thing...
like, don't wink.

OK, I'm going to have to ask. I missed the introduction of the pizza hottie, but I've not stopped hearing about it since. Is this just a girl that you flirt with while she waits on you at some place? Or is there more to the story than that?
Either way... if you ever end up with her, you'd better not let her see this site. If she soes a search for 'pizza hottie' she'll get totally freaked! She'll think you're a stalker or something :D

How very right u are...it's always when u aren't looking for it when it drops out of the sky right into your lap...he he he ;)
As for the inspiration to write...right again..it's actually when I first started writing a few years ago for the exact reason. This time around, I'm not going for the release of emotion from it...more of inner reflection & whatever thoughts I have at the moment...
I've been complimented on my work in the past...made some women cry...ha ha ha... :D

Nothing like that...more of small talk..."so what do u do when u get off work?"...that type of stuff...
not enough to seem anxious...but enough to seem like I'm at least interested in her as a person and not just my server...
I don't think I've winked at her yet...he he he ;)

ok Reader's Digest version...
My favorite pizza place ever...she's waited on me there for a long time...I've always thought she's a hottie...I'm single now, so I figured why not go for it?
I tend to flirt with waitresses & such normally, but I make it a point to show her the attention a little more without really overdoing it.
I'm going to have to break my macrumors secret to any woman I date very easily... ;)

as for the pizza hottie, throw out a line, even if she has got a BF. perhaps she and her BF are on rocky ground and she is just waiting for a good man to show some interest. be ready to reel in a whole exess baggage if she does break up w/ her current BF for you. and dont tell her about this site unless she has a mac

Yea, Fathers Day was pretty rough for me. As you know we lost a cat three weeks ago, and now, another one is very ill. They called this morning and told me he was dead. So, I of course called the Mrs, and the baby. Two hours later they call back and say that he is not dead, but that he is getting better, that it was another cat that had died, and that they were wrong.
Yesterday when I was leaving to take the cat to the vet, my daughter fell, and busted her mouth open. It sucked. But the day / weekend wasn't all bad. Me and the Mrs watched a movie last night, and our 2nd yard sale in a month was a success.

Eyelikeart my friend...
I had the same experience (I mean, the same kind of frustration) with the girls in the US. I do not know if is something cultural or is just in the south. It feels like is I was jewish and the other one bautist. But when I didn't wanted it, I felt that the other person though we where the only two jewish people in the world when I didn't want that.
To give you an example, a friend of mine (gringo) meet a girl over the internet, from the same town. He invited her to a No Doubt concer and he bought the tickets. Well, we went to her house, we meet her (she was fine), she took the tickets, she drove to the concert with a friend of her (we where in another car), and she didn't pay any attention to us any more. Stories like that I have tons, specially with cheerleaders.
That is why if I move to the US, I'll do it with a girld from my country, I know them well. The girld from the US... you will never know, some are the cutest, and some are just fembots.
In that case, you can do 2 things.
1. Is being your self
2. Is to have you "personality chip" ready and become a latino macho man, puro macho just for the sext stuff. May be they are expecting that.
3. or, if you feel lonely, you can yiel DOES ANY BODY HERE HAS A MAC? and spend time with another geek and you may feel at home. :D

wow, I've never heard of a pizza delivery GIRL before... thank god for affirmative action, it's about time. Anyway eye, I'm sure you can steel her away from her current boyfriend, just be your charming boyish self ;) And girls love photographers... maybe if your gallery thing works out you could invite her to the opening ??? Or maybe one of your poetry readings??? just make the move, don't fear rejection. honestly, she sounds like a nice girl I'm sure if you asked her out she would feel obligated to go out with you out of kindness, then you could just charm her to death and bingo... you're in. Hang in there...
as for the drunk, either she'll get help, or she'll never change. you make the decision.

Hey Eye,
Things will soooo work out. I've a fun little story to share.
I had a crush on this girl. I am tempted to name names, but that might not be so good. I was getting the vibe hard core and thought some stuff could happen. Then I made the cardinal sin-- i invited a friend who i didn't know that well to a picnic.
He started hitting on her hard core, but he seemed cool so i didn't mind, although I did kinda tell him I was diggin' on said chick.
Turns out, Mr. Man is a racist/homophobe/womanizer and she's now dating him. They'd all invite me out to hang and I couldn't bring myself to chase after a girl who was dumb enough to fall for a guy like that.
Sorta sucked, cause I saw some potential with this one.
As it turns out, I stoped hanging out with them, and my best bud was wrapped up with a girl who was leaving forever, so I had so time to myself. I started posting on Macrumors (blessing or curse???) and going to this coffehouse I usually don't go to. I bumped into this girl my friend Ryan took out once, and who I managed to chat with during their date (longer story. yikes!)
Turns out she remembered the convo and was impressed. As you know eye, that's the bob-cut girl we have chatted about. And things are going well. We went out and SO got along. She's SURELY not your typical girl that you meet everyday. A rare gem, I'd say! ;)
Fate has an odd way of playing games with us... and its usually for the best. :)
That said, hang in there, girls are always around, and you're more than invited to come up and party with us Pittsburgh Style. :)
Anyway, enough of my bizarro stories. B2TM, sorry about the cats. I lost my dog of 16 years when I was 18 and have never recovered... I have since found macrumors to replace the conversations I had with that pooch. :) ;)
Support comes from odd places.....
And eye, you're week will get better soon enough in the form of a silver platter, if you know what I mean! ;) :)
Anyway, enough of bad weekends... we've spent some time looking back... now let's look forward... MWNY is coming up. Can anyone say 3ghz G5 PDA with eq and mystery jack????

I totally agree... it's been said, and i'll agree--- most girls really do get into guys who are doing a little more than watching sports and swilling beer all night.
Eye, you have a nioce little gallery thing coming up. Play it up. NOt just with Pizza girl, but invite a few. It's like having a few cute girls around will allow you to chat with each but not get wrapped up in one specific (it IS your artshow...must play host) and you can go from there.
I'd almost guarantee that one girl you'd invite will stay around later, lurk around until the end, and there you have it.... girl to ask out for drinks/coffee/etc after they close the gallery.
I'm kind-of an art wh0r3 here in town and I see this stuff happen ALL THE TIME. :)

I'm begining to think this art gallery gig is the key to my new social life & creating a firm set of roots for me to make a name for myself. I've been talking about it to a lot of people, and I'm quite surprised by the responses I'm getting (very positive I should say :D). Also, just this morning I got a random IM from a local who picked out me from my profile (similar interests, etc.). Long story short, I think I've recruited her to come join the group as well.
The nerdy girl sounds like she's money Moxie. There's so much to say about a smart woman, even more so when u have been on both ends of the spectrum. If a woman cannot hold her own in a conversation or even stimulate u intellectually, for me there's zero attraction. And if she's a Mac user, then u will have completed your mission tenfold! :D
I don't really have much to add about the pizza cutie, I just thought it sounded good in the title of my reply...he he he ;)

Art Gallery things are great. Esepcially when you're the show. The focus is on you, and if you're savvy you can eliminate the losers quickly and sift out the winners. It's great.
We should show some of your stuff at the FLUX event in august (www.fluxpgh.com) if you want. We'd have to figure something out... but its a GREAT event.
I have yet to date a mac girl. Although I dated a girl who got a mac after she dumped me. D@mn b!tc4 got herself a tibook and iPod a week after we stopped speaking. Pah!
And I gave one of my other exes my old 7100. Ah well. :)
Seriously though, plug the heck outta your art opening. You'll find that the interesting people will crawl out of the wood work--- for free wine if nothing else. From there, its up to you to rope them in with charm.
Good luck grasshopper. ;)

Seriously though, plug the heck outta your art opening. You'll find that the interesting people will crawl out of the wood work--- for free wine if nothing else. From there, its up to you to rope them in with charm.
Absolutely Moxie...I'm working on it heavily! This is my first association with something on this scale, and I know I keep saying this, but damn I'm excited! :D
I had checked out FLUX yesterday, incredible design on the site and it seems to damned interesting to be part of. Makes me wish I was in Pittsburgh so I could have a hand in it all. I am in the process of putting together some work samples for u Moxie. I'll have to send them over to u once it's finished. We can definitely do some talking... ;)

When I was new in Orlando, I ordered a pizza with my roomate, when the pizza arrived... Got, the girl was so hot! the cutest girl ever, imagine Sarah Michelle Gellar but better, I was about to kipnapher for some serious sex stuff. But that was it, the rest of the time just guys.
Just watch the kidnapping mymemory. Could get you in serious trouble! :)
I can't tell you how many nights have started off with the promise of finding quality cute women only to end up closing a bar with two of my buddies, a little poorer and no closer to achieving girl meeting nirvana.
Ahhhhh. The days. Now, I end up closing coffeehouses, over-worked and over-caffeinated, and I end up at home, unable to sleep thinking to myself:
"if only I talked to the cute girl with the crazy red hair" or "Man, I think the short blonde haired girl was looking at my, um, laptop." ;)
I'm becoming some weird Charlie Brown on techno-steroids incarnation. Heehee.
:) :)

Sweet. And I'll continue the shameless FLUX plugging.... We're trying to expand it to other cities. If you or anyone you know might wanna help make FLUX happen in Nawlins' you should let me know....
We are planning to try and do one in St. Pete's and one in D.C.
It's a killer event... and the type of stuff where you really find the quality people. And we give away good, free beer. And yea, I know all free beer is good but this is from a GREAT brewpub here-- www.churchbrew.com
As always, good luck with the art opening. You'll have to post some pics of the thing when its all said and done. :)

Let me know when it happens in D.C., I'd be interested in possibly checking it out. And you should let cleo know about the St. Pete one, she lives down there.

Wow. You guys all rock. Who would have thunk that making a mention of this thing would get some people into at least checking it out!
Thanks guys!
We're trying VERY hard to establish some things for the "smarter" crowds in cities to do... and this just seemed like such a no-brainer--helps out communities, artists and gives folks something to do.
I'll surely keep y'all posted on the future of FLUX. And eye, you might be the person to talk to and have on board as the "artist planner" for Nawlins' if we can swing it.....We're talking to Community Groups in St. Pete right now...so that one seems like it will be first....if you know of anyone we could contact in your place, that'd be sweet.
To think, this all came from a brainstorming idea session of "young movers and shakers."
So, yea... I guess anything can be done if you have the swagger to do it. :)

I've found this one to be very true myself. All of the best songs I have written have been when I'm walking along a street somewhere and I just start singing a tune or something like that, and the idea evolves. Getting the right personnel for your projects is even more important, as I found with my band. We wasted about 6 months with the wrong people being involved.
Hey, I have another idea for you Eye. Do you do anything musical? This could be a way of wooing pizza girl and whoever else. . .

I know exactly what u mean. It's more when u try to think through creativity that it falters. I've been so much more successful shotting straight from the hip and just going for it in the past. But more than that, it takes initiative. There are way too many people in the world who talk about doing things that they never end up doing. "Doers vs. Watchers."
As for music, I wish I did have musical ability. Just last night I was discussing how I wished I'd been put into music classes as a child. It would be really cool to be able to play the piano or saxophone or something.
I look at it this way though, I've been a natural in art since I can remember. I went to art camp in summers, always did well in school classes, even had the work that everyone talked about at the high school art show (I still have that one, James Dean & Marilyn Monroe). Writing is something that I just started doing out of anger one night. Aside from really getting into the hearts of those who have read it, who would have known how theraputic it would have been?! ;)

What you need to do Eye, is find a girl who looks exactly like her, get with her and then dump her. ;) A dollar if you know where that's from..... if you don't remember, this might help:
If you wanna woo the girl, get out your old boombox from the 80's, get out your grey trenchcoat, find your copy of Peter Gabriels album "So" and go to her house, stand in her yard, lift the radio above your head and play "In Your Eyes"
Supposedly, that always works for us John Cusak types.
:D ;) :D

You think I am kidding, don't you? Well.... i'll tell you the R-D version of the story. Me, boombox, trenchcoat, my old saab 900, this actress girl with black curly hair and pale skin, she lived in a second floor apartment, i stood on the roof of the saab duromh a VICIOUS thunderstorm, right by a tree, (height of youthful stupidity) and I played the tune. She came out, invited me in, i was wet, cold, hungry.....
And well, it worked. :) we dated for a good while after that. heh.
