I figured I might finally make the change to folding. One thing that's been keeping me back (on RC-5) is the inability to sneakernet folding. Now I'm a bit bored with rc5 so I'll keep a bunch of computers on that but gradually hand my main computers to folding. So yeah. A question:

How much faster is the console over the graphical client when it comes to PC's running XP? and OSX for that matter.

Its not really significantly faster... but it does help overall.

around .3-5% faster depending on your setting on the graphical client.

console is a little bit faster and also hidden so people can't play around with it and possibly screw it up, like I have seen with the graphical client (changing teams and names in while folding)...

well, it really depends on your system. If it's quick with a good graphics card, then you almost see no difference. If you have an old system with an old graphics card (say 4 years old), the console version is a lot faster then the graphical interface!
