View Full Version : about to jailbreak...... follow sticky?

ok so im finally about to take the plunge but i want to know if its still ok to follow the sticky or if its outdated....

my iphone 3g and OS X are both up to date and from the last page of the sticky, it looks like that is not....


is there new instructions or does that all still work...

Is this a trick question? 'factory 2.2.1' is the firmware as delivered from Apple.

im sorry, let me rephrase, that.... can you JAILBREAK a 3g that already has 2.2.1?

all i want to do is be able to change icons and add wallpapers and stuff... im bored with how my iphone looks :(

Keep us up todate as to what you find interesting on the Jb phone as I just JB mine on Wednesday and so far have only added hClipboard and bossprefs (so I can hide the unused icons and change settings). I have winterboard installed but am about to uninstall it depending on if i see any lag!

How did u get it to work seeing as u already upgraded to 2.2.1 I'm having a lot of problems thanks in advance

yes. upgrade to the latest firmware through itunes. then jailbreak

try sb settings it is better then boss prefs. you can bring it up with two fingers at the top of the screen very handy.

winterboard is fine, not much of a lag issue, i'd say the ease of use / lag is a pretty even trade off

What type of usb hub did you use, im just using a plain one and keep getting the white screen of death, everything on quickpwn downloads correctly but my screen is white. Did i enter DFU mode correctly or is there a bigger problem?

I jailbroke mine a while ago and have a few wee apps making it imho a better phone.

Live clock - makes the clock on your homescreen active
vibrus - haptic feedback when typing
winter board - to make it abit slicker - nothing mad though
boss prefs
and I'm constantly checking on the status of sweettooth - PROPER bluetooth for the iphone.

So Skip youtube and follow the dev-team blog (http://blog.iphone-dev.org/) to JB your phone! I have the ADC downloads if you need them - so that no-one would have to sign-up for an account to get them again.

Vibrus - it was just in cydia one day - Big Boss is the source - google search shouldnt be too hard to find.

sweetooth - is just a stumbler now but go to ibluethoothproject.com for more info

Thanks! After I posted I realized that I could just check and I did. Do you know if keyvib is better or worse? Does vibra need keyclicks on like keyvib? And does it slow down your typing?

When I had it installed, I typed too fast for it to keep up, and it slowed things down a bit. Not worth it. It is a gimmick IMO

well with vibrus - you can customise it, intensity and its speed.

keyvib is for 3g vibrus for 2g, I like it - each to there own.

just plugged my 3g into my macbook, so the standard USB port on that

I got it... i was just using the youtube vids b/c one guy did it in "real time" so i did it along with him to make sure everything was going as planned / on time lol
