Five rows of apps + dock. So there are six rows total. (standard iPhone springboard is four rows + dock = five rows)

BTW, you can use this together with Five Columns to get 25 icons on a page. Pretty crowded, but it looks ok if you hide the app names.

Sorry about that:( But I just have the Steffwiz "All Sources" program added and that way you don't have to add sources one by one:)

Five rows of apps + dock. So there are six rows total. (standard iPhone springboard is four rows + dock = five rows)

Rows are horizontal.
Columns are vertical.

There are 6 rows and 5 columns of icons in the first post.
There are 5 columns and 5 rows of icons in the second post.
Normally there are 4 columns and 5 rows of icons.

But the bottom row is the dock, which is why this app is called "Fivelrows" and described as giving you five rows.

Hey, can you install 5 columns and 5 rows and have 5x5 above the dock? Then put the five icon dock on there and you'll have 30 icons on your screen at once instead of just 20!

It doesn't look cluttered to me :D But with the 5 columns installed with this will make it look cluttery :P

Conventionally--yes, but not with computers. In Excel a row is vertical and a column is horizontal and when making tables in HTML a row is vertical and a column is horizontal.

Except they did and it's a web standard. Try using colspan and rowspan when making a table in HTML and tell me what happens.

Try using colspan and rowspan when making a table in HTML and tell me what happens.

colspan = spans columns, therefore connects two or more horizontally aligned cells into one cell.

rowspan = spans rows, therefore connects two or more veritcally aligned cells into one cell.

Columns = vertical
Rows = horizontal

end of discussion on that.

-------------

This is pretty cool especially if you incorporate some blank icons...you could make some cool designs or patterns with your icons. Also if you have a background picture that you don't want the icons to completely cover up this would give you more freedom in the placement of the icons.

Like in this situation:
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/1646/img0015yx9.png

You could easily fit another icon on the top row but with the standard 4x4 configuration it would cover up part of the building. However with 5x4 or 5x5 you could fit 3 icons on the top row without covering it up. Pretty cool stuff.

This is strange. The first post in this thread shows a screen shot with 5 rows in the Springboard, and the second post shows one with 5 columns.

And since there seems to be some confusion over terminology:

3 ROWS:
- - - -
- - - -
- - - -

4 COLUMNS:
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |

S = SPRINGBOARD (swipeable) - D = DOCK (fixed in place):
S S S S
S S S S
S S S S
S S S S
D D D D

Anyway, I'd like to have 5 columns, but I think 5 rows would look too tight as I want to keep the app names underneath each icon. Which app are you guys talking about to accomplish 5 columns, and in which repository would I find it?

I have a feeling this app would do what I want, as it is named FiveIRows, which I believe stands for "Five Icon Rows" which is another, more confusing way, of saying "Five Columns." I'm just confused about the first two screen shots in this thread.

Whew.

Just search for "five" in cydia, and I think you should be able to find them.

Well I suppose so, at least the more popular ones. I haven't needed to add a source manually after adding it though.

But remember you have to add All Sources from Steffwiz, not just have the Steffwiz source.

Nope, fiverows just changes the way icons are arranged. People have been posting whatever themes they happen to be using. Mine is a mix of icons from Glass Orbs, Vivid, some Categories icons, and unchanged icons that came with the apps.

You need to install Five Columns.

FiveIRows alone gives you five rows, four columns.
Five Columns alone gives you five columns, four rows.

If you install both, you get five rows and five columns.

I have no idea. I am no longer using the gruppled them but I just checked and it does do that to the time. That is weird. I don't see anything else installed that can be effecting it either.
