In the UK the laws are different for females and males.
If the roles were reversed then the guy would most probably be up on a rape charge.

Chantelle’s mum said: “I told her it was lovely to have the baby but I wish it was in different circumstances. We have five children already so it’s a big financial responsibility for other people who actually work and fund us through their taxes. But we are a family and will pull together and get through.
Fixed that for her. I also worry their family seems to be doing the wrong kind of "pulling together".
The gradual taking over of the country by the benefits class continues. There will now be three generations of that family living without an income, and you can guarantee Chantelle (****, I hate that name ) will jump up the housing list now that she has a child. Where does it end?
Let's see, dad at 13, grandpa at 26, great grandpa at 39, great-great grandpa at 52, great-great-great grandpa at 65, great-great-great-great grandpa at 78, great-great-great-great-great grandpa at 91... there could conceivably be 8-9 generations alive at one point in this [b]kid's[b] lineage... wow... just wow...

I guess in a world where nine year olds give dating advise, it is to be expected.
Grim… :(
There are many places a young man can go for romantic advice - friends, family, and if the worst comes to the worst, the internet.
Now, desperate bachelors, looking for a fresh perspective, are taking dating tips from a nine-year-old boy.

Sorry -- "statutory rape" is the American legal term -- I wasn't sure what / if there was a close equivalent in British law. Thanks for explaining. It's quite wild. In the US those laws sometimes do a lot of good -- I think they're perhaps appropriate in cases like this where there's a big gap in sensibility (as in 12 year old boys really lack any shred of competency to consent to sex compared to 15-16 year old girls). Sometimes it gets abused here rather badly (I think, in some states, a sex act can be considered statutory rape even when the two parties are very close in age together, such as a high school freshman and sophomore sleeping together).
Anyways, I wonder what will come of it.
And you British do certainly seem to love this kind of trashy news. :p

It is indeed a very shocking story. For the most part I am not prude, 15 and 16 year old teens are going to have sex. We hope that proper sex-education is given and these teens use protection and understand that even with protection there are still risks and they have to decide if the risks are worth taking. But a 12 year old and 14 year old having un-protected sex. I would think the problem here is a lack of proper sex-education and also a lack of decent after school programs that have these children learning and now having sex.

So it seems that the unfortunates in this case have started selling their stories to the papers. It was suggested on some other forums that I frequent that any money they make from this should be seized by the state. Why? Because in the UK it's illegal to profit from any criminal activity and that state has the power to seize any assets you cannot prove you rightfully own and did not pay for using cash gained from an illegal activity. As they are all underage the cash the papers pay them comes from a criminal activity...

Good idea and I totally agree.
This "story" just gets even more disgusting and disturbing. I think that girl needs counselling. It is not at all normal for a 14-15 year old girl to be having sex with 8 boys or so in the space of a couple weeks. At first I just thought she was just a repulsive little slut but maybe something is very wrong there, such as past or present sexual abuse. Either way it's awful and I don't think any good can come from this. Just another generation of trashy ingrates on the dole.
(sorry, I'm just not feeling particularly understanding or cheery about this one)

Wouldn't that involve arresting one or both (or some or all) of these poor, stupid kids and putting them through the system, which I'm not entirely convinced would be the answer here? I ask not out of snarkiness but because I'm not up to speed on how due process works entirely in the UK. In order to invoke Son of Sam laws here, one must be convicted of the underlying crime first.

Surprisingly no. The laws are designed to be able to seize the assets of criminals who, for whatever reason, have not been caught committing the actual crime. Mostly they are used to seize the assets of "Mr Big" style drug dealers who are so far up the chain of command that they never actually get caught. Yet as they cannot provide a reasonably justification for their wealth the state can take them to court and remove it from them thus denying them the benefit of their crimes.
Edit: I think this is the correct legislation: it may not actually apply in this case though (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proceeds_of_Crime_Act_2002)...

Apparently the kids not his. Trying to find article.
Here're a couple...
Alfie Patten was believed to be Britain's youngest father after his 15-year-old girlfriend, Chantelle Steadman, gave birth to baby girl Maisie. But then many other boys claimed they also slept with the mother, who had previously said that Alfie was the only boy she had slept with. As a result, Alfie took a DNA test, which indicated that he's not the father.
The result will be a blow to Alfie who was "devastated" by the boys' claims and "adored" Maisie.
He was convinced he was the dad after a single night of unprotected sex with Chantelle.
Before he took the test, he said: "I didn't know about DNA tests before but mum explained it's when they do a swab in your mouth and it tells if you're the dad. So if I have it, they can all shut up."
His mum Nicole, 43, added at the time: "It had not even crossed Alfie's mind whether Chantelle had not been faithful to him. He's absolutely devastated that these lads say they slept with her."
Oddly, the Mirror excerpt is quoted in all the stories but seems to have been pulled from the Mirror site itself.

In all honesty I think the last thing either of these two children (because, after all, that's what they are) need is to be taken to court on some sex assault charge.
A very sad story all round.
Ok, I'm going to be totally crass and talk about african american culture as it applies here. There is a stereotype that most black people lose their virginity very very early.
example: Lil' Wayne: I lost my virginity at age 11 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ogg-CldOPos)
I'm black and went to an all black middle school. There were guys in the locker room who talked about having sex in 6th and 7th grade. Obviously most kids at that age are totally full of crap when they brag about that kind of stuff. But when I was in 7th grade we people come give talks about safe sex. I don't think I'd go as far as to say most kids at that age were sexually active, but some were.
and might i add, i don't know how anyone of any age can be sexually attracted to someone who looks like he is 8 years old.

So I take it, at 15 years old, her having sex with a 13 year old is not statutory rape in England?
There is a general 2 year rule with people 13 and up...
(It isn't a law, just a rule people have, IDK where it came from though).

Wow. Quite a turn of events. I wonder if he "will still be there"?
Originally, Chantelle Stedman told Alfie Patten, who was 12 when he slept with her, he was her newborn daughter Maisie's father...
What's with underage kids making baby in the United Kingdom?
NOW:
"A DNA test showed a 13-year-old boy in Britain is not the father of a baby born to a 15-year-old he had unprotected sex with once."
http://www.geekologie.com/2009/03/alfie_patten_you_arenot_the_fa.php
PREVIOUSLY:
SCHOOLBOY Alfie Patten wore a personalised hoodie yesterday defiantly declaring he is baby Maisie’s father.
The 13-year-old — devastated after other teens claimed they were the dad — displayed the message: 'I’m the daddy, if not ****** you all I’ll still be there.'
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2250059.ece
ORIGINALLY:
She claimed he is the father. They had sex when he was 12. He said he'll try to be a good father.
I guess it's Celebration dance time! (not releated but lol)

Sounds like a Episode from The Simpsons where Bart's girlfriend is having a baby and claimed that Bart is the father.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Big_Girl
If that kid is the father then I'm Mary Poppins.
No, they are both under 16. If she was 16 at the time of conceiving then it would be rape.
What hurts is that I just knew it was going to be a UK story before I even clicked on the link :(
Good call. You are right. LOL.
Guess there won't be a chance to call you Mary Poppins... =p
She looks quite old for 15, he looks young for 13. It's almost as if she could be the mother of both of them.
I don't like this. No sir.
Actually, if this new development didn't happen, she was going to collect welfare at 16, but since he is not of age, she WOULD BE HER MOM in the legal perspective and would be caring for 2 minors.
This thread is pointless without a paternity test.
She's got hitched up with some 20 year old - got pregnant, panics, finds some kid from school and jumps him so her older boyfriend doesn't go down for rape. Then, get in the tabloids, bag a few grand for it, give it up for adoption a few weeks later. Seriously - he doesn't look old enough to be out after dinner. It's very very very suspicious.
Well I guess someone didn't got any afternoon sex yet?
You CAN have sex any time of the day you know. =p
I guess it takes someone who lives in the UK to know what's possible, as that the 13 year old didn't do it.

Boy aged 12 did not father baby
Alfie Patten, the boy who was reported to have conceived a child when he was 12 years old, is not the baby's father, DNA tests have shown.
Alfie, now 13, from Eastbourne, in East Sussex, told a national newspaper in February that he believed he had made his 15-year-old girlfriend pregnant.
But the tests have established another boy from Eastbourne, who is 15, as the father of Chantelle Stedman's baby.
The results of the DNA tests have been made public following a judge's ruling.
The judgement also reveals that Alfie was "extremely distressed" about the results of the test.
Pictures of Alfie, holding the baby he believed to be his newborn daughter, caused a furore when they were published in the Sun in February and renewed calls for better sex education in Britain.
Politicians were moved to speak out about the case.
Tory leader David Cameron said he found the sight of "children having children" extremely worrying.
And Children's Secretary Ed Balls said it was an "awful" and "unusual" case. BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8056700.stm).

First things first -- this totally reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Bart thinks he impregnated his older girlfriend because they kissed while holding hands.
Now, that said, did I miss something, or is there proof that this girl is sleeping around with anyone and everyone? Does having sex with two different people make you a slut and a tramp these days? Would y'all say the same about a guy who'd had sex with two different women?
