Apple wired keyboard - brightness dosnt work with external screen.

Hi, i got apple keyboard and im using it with my MB hooked to my external monitor. all keys works and all function keys and their assigned functions work too but brightness key.

is it normal that it does not control the brightness of my external screen ?
does the keyboard have 12 month warranty ?

The only external displays that I have seen support the brightness keys are Apple's own. Otherwise you're stuck with having to deal with the monitors onboard controls. Not that it's incredibly terrible.
