What are my options on fixing unresponsive touchscreen on iPhone 2G

I already called Apple and they won't replace it.

The phone looks perfect except it has a defective touchscreen, no water damage either.

What are my options to fix it?
 
Ya, on the phone, Apple might think you have dropped it and are looking for them to send you a new one. AT&T store may help too it there's not an Apple Store around. AT&T still would have to send it to Apple though.
