Based on discussion in another thread, the topic of a F@H website came up.
At this early stage, it could be anything from a compendium of tips/tricks, pointers to scripts and installers, FAQs (such as ours) or anything else.
So, let's get a brainstorm going with design ideas, content thoughts, anything at all...
To start things off, here is a design by twiztdn8v:

Nice, offcourse we have to put the MacRumors team folding banner on it, and the foldingscripts of mc68k, our FAQ thread. Maybe some standard signatures that others can use.

Yes I would like to include any applications, scripts, and tips that we can round up, and, if needed, get permission to distribute. I liked the name when I typed it, then I wasn't sure, and now it's sounding okay again, Maybe if I can put the word Mac up on top somehwere...
Hmmm... anyone have any ideas on that?
My brain is about dead today [and I'm still at work!]

Pro-folding?
You mean there is an anti-folding group? ;)
The site is a nice idea. Your 'One Stop Folding Resource'.
Guides, walkthroughs, how to's, applications and ext.
A Great idea indeed.

Sure, I would be willing to help somehow.
If you want to link to my progress monitor, you're welcome to do that. I would be happy to write documentation on how to interpret the work function in mc68k's scripts. We could probably find my original Java code for a textual interpretation and add that. It's somewhere in this forum.

Anything that helps man! Thanks.
I haven't used hardly anyone's anything. I've been trying to figure things out for myself. Even got some scripts that I like to installing the CLI, but it's only for my name and this team
I want to play with Apple Script Studio and see if I can make use out of those scripts and make it more interactive, so people can input the username and maybe team number. I've never used it before, so I'm unsure if I will be able to accomplish this or not.
Perhaps we could do reviews on software's that out there too, and give our reccommendations about what's the best to use for what features and whatnot, what's user friendly etc...

I like the idea. It seems that much of the folding information and software is scattered all over the web. Would this basically begin as a collection of that information and build off of that? Also, you could just link to all that information and provide new things, including reviews, suggestions, and any other important info (like twiztidn8v said above).
Anyway, I would be willing to help with what I can, so keep us updated.

Heeee, does this mean that there will be no activity on these threads regarding folding?!

I don't want to replace the forums here at all. I like the forums here, but I would like to have a one stop shop of information, guides and applications/scripts...
No worries! :)

here is what I've come up with for sections...
What is Folding@Home? self explanitory
faq's - selft explanitory
downloads - apps/scripts, links for each one to reviews...
resources - reviews, guides and how-to's
links - to software we can't get permissions and other resourceful sites*
[*do i see a shameless plug for macrumors in the future???? ;)]

Well, it is gonna be a pro mac site, ain't it? So what I would like to know are the times a mac model needs to complete a WU. So you could compare your machine with another Mac. Would be interesting!

Or, an indication that your site is lacking something and there needs to be a site to pick up the slack. ;)

You MacOSX-ites are funny. You assume that the site being discussed will have anything to do with the MR site beyond the fact that it's being put together by MR team members. The site we're discussing would be 100% about F@H.
You guys are "lucky" that your bandwidth and visits are low enough that your site admin doesn't need to ads to break even. That, or someone over there has deep pockets. Good for you - I guess being a small, boutique site has its benefits. ;)
Keep folding!
