The Apple UK refurb store is open today! (Tuesday)

Just checked it out, few items are sold and nearly everything is 20% off. Some europe stores are open today as well strangely.

Yes, same here in Germany (http://promo.euro.apple.com/promo/refurb/de/special_page_832.html). On sale are "refurbished" iBooks, PowerBooks and displays. Everything is sold at -20%, except the 15" display (> 45%).

Not sure what to think about it. Some models are already marked "out of stock". If it really were a sell-out before upgrades, would they be out of stock so soon? Might as well be a series of laptops where something went wrong in production, then they went ahead to correct it. But it is weird that the offerings are available. Normally, they're rather strict about the "on wednesdays after 11am" thingie.
