Logo critique for S. African charity

I really like it, I love the use of the head and the Africa. The only thing I would play around with is the font, I would go for a more humanist typeface (maybe Skia?).
I think you've got a good starting point. Couple of things though..
Do you think having one figure in the logo is correct? I think maybe a collage of figures creating the map of Africa would work much better and get the idea across of something a bit more vibrant and exciting. The figure is alone at the moment which is not very inspiring.
Also the portrait doesn't work so well alongside the figure - it's mixing two different ideas. Again if there were more characters that might work but not with just the two.
You said you're working on the type. Can't think of a perfect one yet but if you did more like the collage approach then something relatively tight but with some nice serif details would probably be my choice.
