favorite drum company: tama
favorite hardware: tama
favorite drum pedal company: dw
favorite drum heads: remo, since they're good enough for me
favorite cymbal company: zildjian
favorite drumsticks: depends on usage and song
model i play: just cheap pearl mx series drums but with zildjian pro cymbals...when i got rid of that i later acquired another mx series but of a slightly better quality...if i ever got inexpensive drums again, i would go with a entry level tama set and outfit it with a lot of zildjians and sabians

dream set would be 7 piece set with toms but only single bass drum...besides 14" inch hi-hats, i would love at least a dozen cymbals around me

overall, cool cymbals turn me on more than cool drums and hardware, but having a great set of cymbals with hi-hat and 8"-24" can be very expensive...i often fantasized about having a huge chinese type gong (like peter criss of kiss used to have) in the back of my set but with that type of money, a new car would make more sense ;)

I "play drums" only in the sense that 25 years ago I used to really dig sitting down to try to play the set that belonged to the drummer in the hard rock band I played guitar for in high school. Shucky-darns, that was fun! I always wanted to play drums, but never had the loudness-okay space for a set of my own. Okay: how many people here are guitar or bass players that used to annoy their drummers by asking to play his/her set? Raise those hands . . .

I always wanted a piano, too, even though I don't know how to play one. They just sound cool. So now Apple comes out with GarageBand, and I have to go to the music store to try out MIDI control keyboards so I can have fun with all the sounds. Next thing you know, I'm falling in love with the Yamaha P60/P90/P120 series of digital pianos (not the real thing, but probably close enough for me). Now I have to figure out if I can buy one of those and still make my optimal 401(k)/IRA contributions by April 15th.

Hey, maybe I should look into digital drum sets!

nice... i've been thinking of getting the MPC USB controller; it's a bit better than the keys. ;) though i've become quite good at sequencing rex files that way. :D

also been thinking of getting a digital kit... a bit too pricey though. :(

He has a set with two toms, cymbal and a bass drum- will get him his first real set next Christmas I think.

My brother was a drummer in the 80's with a rock band called Shooting Star. They had six Cd's, toured with all the greats: Journey, Cheap Trick, Heart, Bryan Adams, etc.

Course, I don't listen to any of those groups... at least not anymore :D

Man, i can't really say I have any "FAVs" as I'm at college doing engineering, so all the music stuff from high school is taking a backseat for a while. Since I haven't really tried out anything else per say, I can't say whether i really like it or not as they are the only ones i have used.

But to answer, I have a Pearl Drum Set (red), with Zildjian cymbals fer the Hi-hat, all other cymbals (splash, crash, ride) are Sabian. Again, the purchase was under the tutelage of my drum teacher, but i suppose w/e he likes are probably good choices :)

I don't play drums myself, but I have a friend who's a pretty good drummer so I've attended the World's Fastest Drummer (http://www.extremesportdrumming.com/wfd/menu.html) competition twice. (Doane Perry (http://www.doaneperrypage.de/), the drummer from Jethro Tull, was there the last time.)

now that is hilarious...i called my friend who will most likely try out this competition

he was into the world's fastest guitarist thing and then he took up drums and likes to play as fast as he can on those, too

music, as we know it, is not his thing, but volume and speed is what turns him on...for a long time, he was the only gigging musician out there who was into speed metal all those years in the 90s when grunge music took over

now that traditional heavy metal is coming back in and grunge is on the way out, thanks in a large part to the british band the darkness, maybe over the top speed and volume, spandex, wild girls, and all the stardom that once came with it will rule billboard again ;)

Yeah LOL, I need to hire the world's fastest drummer. :DAmong extreme sports, it's one of the safer ones. :) I guess this particular talent qualifies you to, um, er, sign autographs for a living!

Current records:
Mike Mangini: 1180 single strokes in a minute (hands)
Tim Waterson: 1030 singles in a minute (feet)

You can't possibly count them as you listen. It has to be measured electronically.

anthrax, the heavy metal band, clocked at 440 bass drum beats in a minute so if a song were put to mike and tim's fast snare technique with let's say a bass hit every other beat, it would be remarkably garbled and not easy to listen to

some think anthrax is too fast much of the time ;)

Anthrax is my favorite Speed/Thrash Metal band from the 80s/90s, next to Slayer, Exodus and old skool Megadeth (I never liked Metallica though...)

Their side-project S.O.D. is pretty cool too :D

Hats off to the new age hair styles made of bones
Hats off to the use of hats as megaphones
Speak softly, drive your Sherman tank
Laugh hard its a long way to the bank for the
