Does the original (MacBook 1,1) support this drive?

Yes, it will work and you can find the specs here. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148364)

The hard drive for the macbook must be a SATA 2.5" and 5400rpm or 7200rpm.
