Is this a good monitor for photography? I have not heard comments specifically for use by photographers (serious amateur just beginning to work for money). Thanks for any opinions.

If it's only serious amateur work, just get a good 24" panel from your local costco. Unless you're getting paid 'the big bucks', I wouldn't shell out too much for a LaCiE, Eizo, or etc

look up the differences between a TN, PVA and IPS LCD panels. and Find out which one the 2209WA is. There's your decision.

According to this site (http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/), that's an IPS display, which means it's ideal for photography. IPS is probably the best of the three panel types.
