Now that the 2.93 is shipping I'm considering replacing my early '08 (which has 6 GB of RAM -- and I regularly manage to use 5 to 5.8 GB somehow). I don't know of any benchmarks yet, but has anyone compared the two? I would definitely go w/ 8 GB RAM (though not from Apple -- you can buy a MacBook Air for that price).
