My friend has just told me that the Apple Retail Store in London is offering special edition MacBooks that can have "pictures" on them (photos, etc). Now, I doubt this is true (this is the same guy who told me five minutes before that the Apple Store was showing off all the new products for the rest of the year), but it did strike me that it is the 25th anniversary of the Mac, etc, so I just wanted to check - is this true??? I'd imagine if it is, it's not just limited to just the London store...
(Also, he said they weren't skins, which makes me REALLY doubtful)

First I've heard of it, sounds like he pulled it out of his ass as the expression goes.

Apple will never, ever do anything like that in a non-US market. Remember, Apple is a US company, so they would first pilot these products to us and then take them over to other places.

It's a computer. They all have "pictures" on them.
Apple is doing no custom computers. I'd reassess my friendship with this liar...

The only thing *remotely* close to having custom pictures on computers is maybe the free laser engraving on iPods... Apple, nor any company, would do that; namely showing off all the new products in one go.

Well, you've all confirmed what I thought - I think he was just messing with me, trying to make me jealous that he's on holidays in London and I'm not :p I asked him to take a picture of these MacBooks, so he'll probably "coveniently forget".

Yes you can buy floor models that have been abused and overused.

I've read (on these forums) about "ultimate edition" macbook pros available in the stores. They are basically macbook pros that have been maxed out on all the options. (Max RAM, max harddrive, max videocard)
it could be this.

I was talking to him again - he's mentioned something about an auction for a gold-leafed MacBook, and says he has photos - if they're anything worth looking at I'll post them when I get them :p

Sounds more like a one off mod. than an Apple special edition.

Would you find them in an Apple Store? I'll see what he comes up with, his photos should be up soon...
