Hi I am a noob when it comes to mac so bare with me
My question is this
I purchased a jailbroken iphone (not a 3g)
and i was trying to access the app store and download something
but when i try it asks me for a password of the person who previously owned this phone i dont know it so i hooked it up to my macbook then itunes pops up and the popup says something about not being able to use it until i download 8.0 ....what would happen if I download it? wouldnt my phone lock ?
cydia and installer is great but i really want to access the app store and my itunes :(

Don't use Installer; it's worthless. Cydia is all you need.
Edit: Oho... The idiot left their ACCOUNT in iTunes!
Do a DFU restore and jailbreak on your own. Then when you resync, you'll have your settings.

and then just restore via iTunes

Keep in mind, if you restore, you will no longer be jailbroken..

Also, since you have a v1 iPhone and you're JB, are you unlocked as well?

Because if you want to keep it unlocked, there are other procedures for using YellowSnow as part of the unlock while updating to firmware 2.2.1. Also, two of my brothers are unlocked and using T-Mobile...

If you do a full restore to factory settings, pick a jailbreak/unlock tutorial for your 2G iPhone from this page (http://iclarified.com/entries/index.php?caid=2&scid=11&seid=1)
