Digital Video Camera as DVR?

I have a Canon ZR-40 video camera and a Mac running Panther. Anyone know of a way, using the video in on the camera and firewire into the computer, to make it a dvr (like Tivo and Replay TV)? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure how your Canon works, so maybe it's possible to use it as an RCA->DV converter. However, you're probably best off either:


taping the show(s), then connecting the camera to iMovie
buying something like the $199 El Gato (http://www.elgato.com) Eye TV (http://www.elgato.com/products/eyetvusb.html) (or better)
