Is it really a laptop if you wouldn't use it in your lap? Handtop perhaps.

Probably should have been posted in current events forum.

The Air ain't small but it's the smallest non-hackintosh we got until Apple gets their head out of their butts and see the market. Heck, they're 80% there with the iPod touch. Two more inches and a couple of ports, the touch could be "it" nicely.

Netbooks are a fad. They will dissolve in a year or two.

I disagree. While they will never see the market share that laptops/notebooks have, there will always be a demand in the market for them.

Aren't they bad for your eyes?

Something that small with a keyboard is just awkward. Virtual keyboards are what we should have on something that small.

I used one for a bit at a PC World and it strained my eyes trying to look at web pages, I don't have the best eye sight in the world, but I also don't have the worst.

As a side note: one of my friends used one whilst he was in Kenya and he said he refused to ever get one because they're so incredibly slow at loading apps...

Also Engadget pitted some netbooks against an iBook, and found them to be about equal...

Right now they are very popular with that popularity rising.

My guess is that this popularity will taper over time and settle at a lower market penetration level.

A Netbook is definitely handy for those that need to lug a computer around. However, most are very limited in their capability.

It will definitely be interesting to see how this niche develops over time. Right now it seems to be exploding.

Agree. Most of the Netbooks' keyboards are too small to touch type effectively.

How insightful! I would have never guessed in two years technology will change? OMG

Interesting little laptop.

Seems to be almost too small to use effectively.
