No Display on Mini

I am trying to use my Mini on my Sony XBR4 HDTV using DVI-HDMI. The Mini is a Power PC 1.42. When I first connected it displayed 1920X1080 but had some static and flicker issues. I tried to adjust the resolution to solve the flicker issues and my display went black.:( I can get a display using a DVI-VGA cable but not DVI-HDMI. I checked the cable using another computer and checked the Mini using my monitor. I have tried adjusting resolution using the monitor then connecting, that didn't work. I have tried deleting the windowserver files and safe start. Neither of those worked. Any advice would be appreciated.

My television (Sharp) behaved similarly. At first connection, I got a 1080p display, but once either device was restarted it was a black screen. I used Screen Sharing to remotely switch the output to 720p and all is well.
