I have several pieces of Japanese art from wood block prints to hakata ningyo.

You could probably find many things by using the Japanese google search.

my grandparents opened a japanese gift and antique shop in 1955, then my dad came in and took over in 1961 then i was supposed to come in and take over when i finished college in the '80s

as it turned out the store went out of business in 1988 and i didn't finish school anyway until the 90s so the long term plan that was laid out for me fell apart ;)

looking back, i don't think i would have liked to work 10-12 hours a day, seven days a week, gift and antique shows, and traveling to asia every 18 months, but i would have known a tremendous amount about japanese art...so much that i wouldn't want to see it when i got off of work and put it in my house ;)

in the store, i saw everything from hiroshige prints, to imari, to satsuma, to old temple pieces from kyoto

we didn't sell swords and our family never sold or had anything considered a weapon

but once, they bought a full set of replica samurai swords, still very expensive, from a vendor and put it in their house

as a little kid, i promptly whacked trees and rocks and in no time, i broke all the swords ;)

I love Japanese art too (as well as architecture).

If I ever earn enough money I'd like to build a large Japanese-style home.

Hopefully I'd be able to fill that home with paintings liek these:
