Changing Finder folder / file color choices
There are about 7 different colors (predeteremined) that you are allowed to assign either files or folders from within the finder menu. Does anyone know how to or if it is possible to change the default colors? :(

it is possible, but it's definitely sticky. It involves redrawing the little color blobs and entering in some new values for the colors in some obscure file. Look for it on MacOSXHints or something.

There's an article about it here (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=2003111706391282). I wouldn't recommend doing it though. Firstly modifying the system is very risky, secondly you'd have to buy Resorcerer (the demo can't save from memory) and you're not likely to use it much after this.
Unsanity made a program called Labels X (http://www.unsanity.com/haxies/labels) ($10 shareware) which is similar to Mac OS 9 labels, in which it applies a tint to the label. I haven't tried it myself, but the colour information is apparently customizable.
