Been chosen by the head of art at my college to do a logo design for the main non government fund that pumps £££ into my college. Please feel free to look, to critique and so on.

i realise the yellow design and the black background would not be appropriate

is the best; the shapes above, what's with that? Not to be harsh but just slapping text on a primitive object is ugly... what about a wood cut stamp silhouette of who ever this guy was (like from a profile photo)?

edit:
'ma bad; I missread OP about the shapes, thanks Levi

Great that you began selecting fonts. After you start designing the logo, post again.

It just looks like a load of font's placed on a page at the moment.
As said come back a bit further down the line as at present there isn't much we can comment on.

nfable - read the op, the colours aren't going to be used

I think you need to take a look at your kerning, particularly on the three examples to the bottom right.

I rather like the yellow circle concept, though I'm unsure of it longevity given it's rather contemporary and populist form (will it age well?). Though such critique is obviously rather academic given its current form.

You my want to revisit your letter scaling. When you enlarge the "J" and the "F" relative to the rest of the names, they appear to be a heavier weight, and I'm finding that very distracting. Either manually adjust the weight of these initial caps or pursue another direction.
