hi all
i just changed from using a g4 pm to an imac at work and i just wanted to email myself some nice wallpaper... hehe... so if anyone could tell me what the standard screen res is (i'm like, not at work on a sunday ;) ) i would be most grateful :)
its 17in btw

The highest resolution for the iMac 17" is 1440 x 900. And beautiful it is too.

17-inch display resolutions: 1440 by 900 (native), 1152 by 720, 1024 by 640, and 800 by 500 pixels at 16:10 aspect ratio; 1024 by 768, 800 by 600, and 640 by 480 pixels at 4:3 aspect ratio
Using a slightly large picture won't be a problem though. Mac OS X uses some pretty good scaling technology. :)

ahh! well aint that clever! ;)
most of my pics are 1280*960 or 2048*1536 (so they need resizing for email anyhow..)

you got that right. I use a wallpaper thats 1024x768 and my screen res is 1920x1440 but it looks great and is being stretched almost 4 times its size. not grainy at all.
