Hi,

I am on an o2 contract on a 3G and I keep getting strange calls from a number which IS shown when its ringing, and in my recent calls list.

Odd thing is, only 2 people know the number at the moment... and i have their numbers.

In fact it is 2 numbers which have rang my phone today - I rang one of them and they said 'why are you calling me when you say you don't need to?' Well it was because they rang me when I was in a shop and so I dialled back the number. It wasn't an 0800 or anything. The caller acted all surprised.

Is this a new thing? Help please. Thanks.

If that were happening to me, I would assume that I had a recyled phone number that was getting calls intended for the previous user of that number.

Only he is on o2... lol... You most likely got a recycled number.

I'm chiming in with recycled number too, one of my friends had someone ranting down the phone to them several times before the guy got the hint he didn't have the right number anymore...

Oh right, that's odd then. So that's why I was offered paid numbers and free ones.

Its crazy and somewhat scary at first.

I managed to solve the problem.

One of the sales guys in the store had an iPhone and I think he was phoning me on it, which explains the private number.

I know this because I rang the number again just now and I mentioned Carphone warehouse and they said that when I bought the phone I was offered insurance and I declined. I think they were trying to get me to pay for some. It's still bad, I know, but I kindly said that I was fine thanks and don't want any.

So hopefully I won't be getting any more of these calls. Bit odd though isn't it?

Thanks to those who chimed in. :apple:
