View Full Version : Help please - ext keyboard has just died - (Caps light still on though)

My External wired apple keyboard has just stopped working -

It was happy all of today, and i had some free time so I decided to do some wire management and when I plugged the keyboard back in the caps light is on but nothing types.

I searched and found people with similar(ish) problems on a powerbook but nothing this odd..

Any ideas? both usb' s are working but the keyboard aint... HPMPH... :(

have you unplugged it again and replugged it in?
tried a different port?
did a quick restart?

might be stuck on some glitch and just needs to be power cycled....

I've plugged it into every USB port available (thats 16 in total in my setup)

no luck...

I've restarted - no luck...

restarting again:(

No joy... I'm scared I might have surged it when I yanked it out the usb.. but I've done this heaps before and its been fine...

I'm also wondering why the caps lock is still on... It wouldnt be a num lock/ scroll lock problem would it - I've tried playing about with no luck.

Its just annoying because I was gonna buy the wireless but I need the extra number keys for my work. - and I'd be reluctant to buy a new one if this is gonna happen again.

I mist be doing something stupid.

Same sh*t different computer :(

Bad vibes - green caps lock light on - no key response.

thanks for helping though - I'll check it again tomorrow - and then I'll post a vid on youtube of what a keyboard looks like after its been smashed against a lamp-post

well if the computer you have is coveredunder apple care you can get it serviced/replaced.
