itunes problem

Ok so I have this little quirk in itunes that is really started to annoy me. If I try to skip forward a track it just stops playback. If I hold it down it will fast forward, and the back button will skip back to the begining. I have made sure my shuffle is on and tried everything I can think of. Any suggestion would be great

BtW I am using 8.02 on a C2D 2.0 mac mini
