Vinyl Cutting, need some suggestions :)

So I just got myself a Vinyl Cutter from USCutters.com

It's sweet, works great, I just just need to figure out the best way of using it.
It came with some vinyl software for use in Windows. I have parallels installed and that works great, but I'm wondering if there could be other software out there I should rather be using.

Could I just use illustrator and export it directly to the cutter without having to transfer it to windows and have it cut?

I hope there's a few people on the board with experience in vinyl cutters :)
