PDANet or competitor - Still free?

I am thinking of re-jailbreaking my phone (been non JB since 2.2.1 came out). I really want wifi/usb/bt tethering modem functionality, but from memory PDANet was going to start charging. Is this still the case, or are there free alternatives.

PDANet does require a license, I believe it's $30. After the 14-day trial PDANet becomes like a demo version. I personally haven't gotten there yet, I think 7 days left, but am loving it so far.

As for free alternatives, I am unsure.
