It's curious that Apple now sells a wired keyboard without numeric keypad:

It sells for the same US$49 price as what is now called the "Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad."

Evidently MacGeekDC gets credit for this discovery. See the other thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=660733), though much of the discussion seems to be on solid state disks and the MacBook Pro.
