I have an old mini (love it). I am using a little external firewire 400 hard drive for Time Machine. My drive gets it's power over the single firewire cable, which is cool.
I understand the new Mini has a firewire 800 port.
Can I use my current drive on the 800 port?
Do I need some sort of adapter?
Thanks

Firewire 9-pin to 6-pin cable is all you need.

can't beat $5.

FireWire 800 ports will definitely work with FireWire 400 devices; you just need the appropriate cable. If I choose to buy one of those new iMacs or Mac Minis, I will also buy a 4 pin-to-9 pin cable for my DV camcorder.
