Why can't Apple release all of the updates at once so we don't have to keep restarting? :p

For geeks like us....I wish they would. :D
For normal users that only let Software Update do the checks....they'd only restart once per day anyway.

Well I suppose if there are issues related to particular updates, you can more easily identify which one is causing the problem.

I don't have iLife 09, iWork 09, or Aperture, yet iLife Support 9.0.1 shows up in my Software Update. (I have iLife and iWork 08.) I wonder why? Anyone else see this?

Yes, downloaded iLife Support 9.0.1 (50.56MB), but actual update done was 1.5 MB. (Software updated showed something like that).
OTOH, iPhoto 8.0.1 updater said it is not for me (although I have iPhoto 08). Software updater didn't show me this either.
Best.

The reason it's not updating is because iLife '09 is actually version 8.0, I believe this skip happened when no iLife '07 came out. If you go to your applications folder and do a get info of your iLife I bet it's version 7. something, hope that helps!

That still doesn't answer why people with iLife 08 are seeing the update ?

Techinically, the whole iLife *package* ('08, '09, etc.) does not have a version. Each individual app has its own version. For example, iPhoto '08 is version 7, while iWeb '08 is version 2.
In other words, there is no iLife application per se.
Only reason I can think of is that Apple is using the same iLife "engine" for both iLife '08 and '09, which is why the update shows up for iLife '08 users. Which, if this is the case, does not match up with Apple's release notes since they don't mention iLife '08 at all.

Your right I meant to type iPhoto '09 not iLife, thanks for clarifying for them.

I got tricked by this too, I have iPhoto08 but was told I don't qualify for running the 8.0.1 update when I tried to install...sigh.
Although, I thought it too good to be true that Apple would give me a free update after all these pop up advertising attempts to get me to upgrade to iLife09 failed. Good to know there are no Apple viruses...except those designed by Apple, of course!

They should offer free iLife upgrades for people who have purchased it within 12 months of the new version becoming available, and then a reduced cost ($50?) for upgraders beyond 12 months.
